End of January World Cups

A four race line up was on the schedule in the Freestyle FIS World Cup which continued in Deer Valley (USA). In the moguls, Hannah Kearney (USA) and Guilbault Colas (FRA) were best on a long, icy and fast course.
 
In the inaugural World Cup half-pipe competition Angeli
VanLaanen (USA) earned a big win Friday in her first World Cup over Canadian Megan Gunning. French skiers Kevin Rolland and Xavier Bertoni, winner of season´s first competition, dominated the men´s pipe, with Walter Wood(USA) third. Swiss Virginia Faivre, who finished fourth, continues to lead the ladies´ rankings.
 
In the final event, dual moguls, Canadian Jennifer Heil defeated World Cup leader Kearney in the finals. In men´s dual moguls, Colas completed a golden sweep in Deer Valley with a win over David Babic of the U.S. in the final.
World Cup leader Alexandre Bilodeau (CAN) took fourth.

Myrkdalen-Voss Fjellandsby
The weather has been amazing lately. A couple of days snowing, then the sun has come out of the clouds and given powder to the people.
The mogulcourse is being built and we are ready for kick off World Cup Voss 2009!
 
We hope to see many people in Myrkdalen 18th - 21st of february. Voss Fjellandsby welcomes you!


Vinjar Slåtten from Voss No 12 in the finals

North American Cup in moguls:
Athletes from Norway has been participating in the North American Cup in moguls. On the 17th and 18th of January Vinjar Slåtten got 12th in the finals out of 85 athletes in Mont Gabriel, Canada. This is a great effort from the 18 year old Norwegian. The level is high in this competition, both for men and women. 25 World Cup athletes participated.
The coach for the Nowegian team, David Kantermo, is reporting great skills for the Norwegian mogul skiers.

Vinjar Slåtten, Tevje Lie Andersen and Audun Hammersland is of to Deer Valley, 29/1-31/1 to participate in the World Championship.

Switch cruising in powder              
Cato Lærgeid is demonstrating west norwegian snow and what to to with it. The weather has the last couple of weeks been cold and the snow has been good.

Cato has started working with Asbjørn Skorpen on the Ski Cross course for World Cup. This will be the first time in Voss that Ski Cross is a part of a Freestyle Event. Asbjørn has been working his way around different World Cup events in Europe to be able to create the perfect Ski Cross World Cup in Myrkdalen 19th of february.

World Cup in Voss on February 18th - 21st 2009

Welcome to Voss

In February 2009 Voss will again host the Freestyle FIS World Cup. During three hectic days competitions in Ski Cross and Moguls will be carried through. This is the first time Norway hosts World Cup Ski Cross, which triggers great expectations when it comes to experiencing the event of this new Olympic sport. The competitions will be held at Voss Fjellandsby Myrkdalen, located only 25 minutes drive from Voss town, whils the opening and medal ceremonies will take place in Voss town centre.

 

Voss invites you to 4 days of thrilling action and great entertainment. The races will be shown on TV and as a host we are determined to once more put on a brilliant show for the audience and the 250 participating athletes and supporting teams. 

 

And note, the retired Olympic medal winner, Kari Traa, will again be Chief of Course for the Moguls competition!
